About this Class:
This class introduces the concept and first chapter of the book, "Divine Purpose Guidework" (A Soul Work Handbook For Personal and Professional Soul Progression), Intuition.
Everyone has intuition. Whether you are someone who just has a "hunch" now and then or a professional who relies on intuition in your career, this class can aid you in developing, strengthening and trusting your intuition. Your intuition is your inner guidance system, your compass, that lights your path and enlightens your mind. It is the tool you need for every step of your life journey. Fine tuning your intuition brings clarity and confidence to every choice, every decision and every experience in life. Discover, develop and learn to trust your intuition.
Class Outline:
1. What is Intuition?
Intuition is the ability to acquire immediate knowledge without inference or the use of reason. It provides us with the capacity to make fast sound decisions, even without the luxury of time for comparing options; without a full investigation. This "going within" to access our intuition does not impede the analysis of previous experience. Instead, it puts us in direct contact with the stored experiences themselves. It is like accessing a complete file without having to read each entry. We already know our past experiences. It is not always necessary to analyze each one in or order to make a decision, if we can "be" in the pool of knowledge learned from past experience and make a choice from that state of awareness. Intuition is that state of awareness. And, the deeper we move into intuition, the greater this sphere of discernment becomes. Our perception can expand to vast stores of knowledge in the collective consciousness or uncounscious perspicacity.
Intuition is belief. It is the unmistakeable inner certainty of a belief that stems from deep within the heart and soul. Intuition is the unconscious reasoning process that guides us from the deep stillness of the quiet mind in the stores of inner wisdom that we each possess and have access to. Intuition tells us, "You know this." And, when we pause to consider if, indeed, we do know it, we discover that we know it, we believe it and, with a little focus and clarity, we understand it. Intuition is our true belief, not what we believe because of what we have been told.
Intuition is wisdom. It is the inner sensory mechanism of calling up higher wisdom with the goal of the subconscious or superconscious to move us forward with ease and grace into what is in our best interest. This is why our intuition is never wrong. If we are truly listening to our own intuition, it will not steer us in the wrong direction because that is in opposition to the mechanism of intuition. Intuition solely works to unite us with inner wisdom. Wisdom cannot be foolishness. We are all innately wise beings. Our foolishness exists outside the realm of intuition. Intuitive wisdom is what we may call "higher knowledge" or "inner guidance." It supports our well being on all levels. Tapping in to intuitive wisdom is a sure course to clear thinking and decisiveness that will serve our highest good.
2. Intuition Development
Everyone possesses the mechanism of intuition. Developing a more fine-tuned, smoother working process of intuition is like developing any other ability. It is accomplished with good exercise techniques, regular practice and setting specific goals.
An exercise for developing intuition is this:
The last step is not optional. If we merely ask for inner guidance, and then fail to follow that guidance, then we are telling ourselves consciously and subconsciously that we do not trust our intuition to guide us. If you purchase a travel guide to assist you on a trip and then fail to follow any of the guidance given, then you devalue the guide to a worthless state. If you value your intuition, you will demonstrate its value by trusting and following its advice. Any good practice in intuition development involves trusting your inner guidance and demonstrating that trust by your actions. The more you put your trust into practice, the easier it becomes and the more developed your intuitive skills become.
The best spiritual practice to access intuitive wisdom is meditation. You can meditate by simply daydreaming, candle gazing, using breathing techniques, listening to soothing music and any number of ways. Try any of them. Try all of them. Meditation is a spiritual tool.
3. Building Trust
Building trust in your intution is accomplished simply by an exercise in "pretending."
Trusting Your Inner Voice: Exercise in Pretending
It was easy to pretend when we were children because our minds were so creative and we could easily believe that anything was possible. We have not forgotten how to pretend. When we act we are pretending to be our character. It’s easy to pretend. Join me in an exercise in pretending. We are going to just "make believe."
Allow Yourself to Pretend
Close your eyes and pretend with me.
I want you to find a comfortable position. If you begin to be uncomfortable during the exercise it is ok for you to adjust your position to one of greater comfort. You will not fall into a trance or be in anyone else’s control during this exercise. You will be fully alert and aware of yourself and your surroundings.
This is merely an exercise in allowing yourself to pretend.
Relax as these words are quietly read ...
Now sit comfortably and close your eyes so that you will not be distracted by things in your environment. I want you to pretend that there is a soft glowing peaceful white light about a foot and a half above your head stationary in its position above you. This light is warm; but not hot. In fact, it is perfect body temperature so that as the light radiating from it touches your skin it feels like the perfect temperature. Pretend that the rays of this light slowly trickle down over your skin and you feel this perfect warmth in the top of your head. Pretend that this light begins to encompass and permeate your head, and, as it does, it’s perfect warmth restores balance to your body. Whether you are too warm or too cold, the light brings balance as it fills and surrounds your body. Pretend that you feel the warmth on your shoulders, then your back and your chest, through your abdomen, torso, arms, and into your fingertips, through your hips, thighs, knees, calves, feet, and into your toes. Your entire body is encompassed in this perfect peaceful white light.
Now, I want you to keep pretending that you are surrounded by this white light throughout the rest of the exercise. Pretend that within this light is absolute homeostasis, perfect balance of everything. While you are still surrounded by the light, I want you to pretend that you begin to have a thought, just a seedling of a thought that you don’t yet know what it is. This thought, though, does not begin in your brain. Pretend that this seed of a thought comes from your soul.
As you are seated, allow this thought seed to begin in your lower torso near the base of your spine between your hips in the inner core of your body near the center of your pelvic girdle. Since this is a thought, there is no discomfort in it. This soul thought feels very comfortable as it begins to form. Because it is your own soul’s thought, it is in complete agreement with your body, mind, and spirit. It is in harmony with all that is you. You are not yet aware of the meaning of your thought; but you recognize that it is there.
Pretend now that you begin to allow your soul thought to expand slowly. This is a very comfortable natural feeling as you notice it expanding and gently traveling upward through your body. As your thought travels very slowly through your midsection, your body and spirit are nourished by it. The organs of your body are blessed by your soul thought. Your spirit is enlightened by it. You come to understand that your soul thought is perfect as the light surrounding you is perfect, and there is harmony within you as your soul thought fills your soul.
Pretend that you experience this soul thought softly moving upward in complete harmony with your body and spirit through the center of your body gently upward passing through the center of your chest, your throat, your head, and passing gently above the top of your head into the aura or atmosphere that surrounds your body just above the top of your head. Pretend that your awareness now accompanies your soul thought.
You are completely aware of your mind and body and of your spirit, your soul. You can be in your soul thought and also in your body because your spirit can expand beyond the confinement of your body. Your spirit does not have to leave your body to experience your soul thought. Your spirit can experience both the body and the soul at the same time because it reaches beyond the physical into the spiritual realm. Pretend that your soul thought, now hovering above your head, is bathed in the white light that is shining down on you. As you become aware of your soul thought in this perfect light, you come into a knowing of truth from your soul. You have perfect knowledge of this truth. You know what your higher being, your inner self is telling you. You have complete understanding with perfect clarity of what your soul thought is, however great or small. Whether your soul thought is a single word, a simple truth, or a profound revelation, whatever it is, you recognize that it is yours and you absolutely get it.
Take as much time you want to sit quietly and enjoy this moment. Then, when you are ready, I want you to very quietly open your eyes, keeping complete awareness of your soul thought in your mind, take your pen and paper, and write down your soul thought.
This exercise in pretending will unite you with your intuition and help you to develop a greater trust in it.

4. Spiritual Practice: Meditation
Meditation is a spiritual practice that promotes well-being and awakening of consciousness. Meditation is quieting the mind and allowing. It may seem impossible at times to quiet the active mind because so many thoughts are intrusive. Acknowledge and be grateful for each thought, set it aside, and center. Clearing the mind clears the way for deeper spiritual experiences.
Use this suggested meditation and/or develop your own techniques:
Sit quietly and comfortably with your arms and legs uncrossed. Take a few slow, deep breaths, releasing tension in every muscle from the top of your head to the tips of your toes with each slow, steady exhalation. For a bit, slow your respirations, focusing on your breath. Then move your focus to the center of your chest, and within, to your heart. Be aware of the quietness within the heart. Move your focus into the space between the physical and spiritual bodies wherein the heart exists as the seat of the soul. Be aware of the quiet stillness in this sacred space. Be quiet for a moment and do not seek any stimulation; just "be" the sacred space of your soul. In this sacred space, we first leave everything else behind. Then we become the sacredness of oneness wherein there is no need for words or visualizations or sensory stimulation. Then, within the oneness, we become aware that all knowledge exists; all wisdom; all that is. And in this stillness we are aware that there is no need for sensory stimuli to obtain information because we "are" the oneness of all that exists. If we desire a particular insight, all we have to do is call it forth, and it is part of us, effortlessly. When you are ready, petition for the particular insight that you desire. Be aware of anything that comes into your awareness, even if it seems completely unrelated to your petition. Spend as much time as you desire with this heightened state of awareness, simply noting to yourself your own experience without expectation or preconceived ideas. When you are ready, bring your awareness back into your physical body, your heart, your lungs, full body awareness, and awareness of your surroundings. Open your eyes and recall your experiences. Write down everything that you recall of your experience. As you reflect on your experience, ask your intuition for clear understanding of the insight you received. Be aware that you can continue to access your intuition in the matter long after the meditative experience.
As mentioned before, act on your insight with gratitude for intuitive guidance.

5. Affirmation
An affirmation is a declaration that we affirm the validity and solemnity of a particular statement. It is our testimony of a particular truth. We use affirmation statements to remind us consciously of what know to be true. Affirmations bring congruency to the conscious, subconscious and unconscious minds as we declare them aloud. Practice using daily affirmations to firmly plant the seeds of truth within your mind and soul.
The affirmation for intuition is:
"I am aware of the stillness in my soul and trust my intuition, my inner guiding voice."
6. Soul Sign
My inner guidance has been to produce a deck of affirmation cards, and that is in the works. In the mean time, I have been guided to produce a 12-card introductory set with a card for each class. I have received very specific intuitive guidance on every card. The symbols on each card are referred to as "Soul Signs" because they are visual and mental clues to remember from within; triggers for soul memories. These, I am guided, MUST be simple drawings that ANYONE could draw. The symbols are a bit blurry by design, forcing the mind to create its own imagery for them. They are placed in the center of the card, even with writing over the top of them so that the symbol itself is not cemented in to the mind; but the concept of the vague visual clue. These symbols are easily recognizable. As much as possible they are recognizable beyond the need for verbal language or for any particular language. Each symbol has been designed by intuitive guidance.
The soul sign for intuition is:
The gateway to our intuition is through the heart, even the seat of the soul. Within and beyond we discover the depth and infinite nature of our inner being. We are the oneness. We are One.
As you develop your intuition, be open to greater depth, higher wisdom and infinite possibility.

* A full deck of affirmation cards is planned for publication after the book is published. Currently the artwork is not complete and the publisher has not yet been selected. There is, however, an introductory 12-card presentation set available ONLY at workshops. The first set is free to registered workshop participants, and each participant will have the opportunity to purchase additional sets at the workshop for a very modest cost. Card graphics are available for download in JPEG and PDF formats. Each card refers to the chapter subject and spiritual practice while including a related affirmation and a visual/mental clue to remember from within, a "soul sign."
